VAS has MOVED!!!

Post by MattVAS »

It's official we are now in our new building!
--- Pictures to come soon, but we're still unpacking so there aren't any "Beauty Shots" yet. ---

If you're in the area and want to stop by our new address is...
601 E Chambers St
Cleburne, TX
76031

For those of you about to use Google Maps Street View...... The building looks better now
Inside and out have been fully refinished. We aren't as fast as those home remodeling shows but we still did an EXCELLENT job.

I just used the Google Streetview App and I hopefully have uploaded a new street view of the building and surroundings.
Now that I think about it I should do it again in Spring when things are actually pretty in nature.

Anyhow....... I've got some more pictures of the building to give everyone a better idea of our new place.

This is facing west on Chambers St. So you are seeing the front and eastern side of our new building

And this is obviously the western side

And here is how to get in

I has been winter and no one here previously has maintained the grass. Right now we are seeding and fertilizing to make the grounds look nice. We'll end up with a small flower area by the ramp (pictured above) and another one on the east side of the building around the big sign (pictured below). The big sign was for the in ground scale to weigh loads of feed (building was a feed store in its past life). So below is the sign if anyone has some cool ideas of signs to put on it or anything let me know! The whole sign is about 6' wide and 5.5' tall.

And for fun if you stop by and park on the scale....... come to a bit of a hard top as the scale wobbles. It is a very funny feeling for anyone that isn't prepared for it (especially when they get out and the ground is moving).

Does the scale work, and if so can we weigh our cars?

It would be interesting to have an actual weight for my car.

You can get it weighed at any Recycling facility, they have drive-on and drive-off scales to measure the weight. Anyone in Eastern MA, Harvey's in Westboro used to do this for me when we lived back there. In Plymouth, the "hard to eliminate" town waste facility has a citizen drive on drive off scale, but I don't know if they would let you get the weight for free. Pretty much all of the recyclers have scales. Good to a pound or two!

Many truck stops too. A 4 wheel weigh in can also give you some great insight into the balance of a vehicle and uncover wheels that may be overloaded. Great when figuring out exact tire inflation pressures. Fill both wheels on the same axle to the pressure for the one carrying the greatest load or redistribute things to even it out.

It does not work. Don't have a clue as to when it was fully killed off.
We do have some of the old inside parts to it but no way to get it up and running again.
Now it's just a cool old feature of our classic building.

Today we finally started hanging things in the office!
Got a lot more to go but it does feel good.

One of Robert Vick's old X1/9 Race Hoods.
This is basically right behind me (that is the top of my chair in the photo).

Several NOS grills that have been hanging out at VAS for far too long. Now they have a purpose in life!
This is right above the front door and windows.

More pictures to come. Hopefully by tomorrow.

These pictures pretty much cover most of the walls for the main office area.
We do have some show banners from Italian Carfest to hang, which we'll probably get to later this week.

And we've still got 1 more big announcement left to do! More on that soon....
