how is the diet going any more progress

I have seen 2310 as a weight for the spider, how much overall weight reduction do you think you'll wind up with?

My long term objective would be to reach 1,000 kg of kurb weight, so a weight reduction of 70 kg.

Along with an engine boosted to130 hp and 140 ft*pd of torque, this would provide a car that would be feeling more fun to drive. In my own opinion...

Maybe I'll go with the 3.9 rear differential ratio for increased acceleration and also it seems to weigt less...but this plan is not for this year ;)

I find this weight loss thing interesting. As I have redone my entire suspension and look for a good alignment shop, and asking about the laden specs (we all know the #s); I wonder then about what your alignment specs are when you drop 100+# (or more) from the sprung weight.
Just a thought.

that seems a reasonable goal-- I was thinking of looking around 45kg for mine
mine is around 80 hp it is a 79 2.0
at 130 hp and dropping 45 kg that takes me from 17 sec 1/4 mile to 14.3 ish (calculated)

14.3s ET. How did you calculate that?

Seems a bit optimistic. Weight loss helps 1/8 ET but on the second half, HP rules as air resistance determines the rate of acceleration.

I'm thinking its just a ballpark figure Idk how accurate that would be but useful to show the potential of improvements and effect of different tire size/weight/hp combos and also compare to modern cars 0-60 and 1/4 mile time

A friend just gave me this great old R&T book, it has the original test results and charts for pretty much every Fiat car in the US. It is a lot of pages to scan (110), but let me know which ones are of particular interest, and I will get the pages posted over time.
