I will install a knock sensor in my car. I found 2 possible location. The first one is on the fuel pump cover but it's a bit far from the cylinders. The other one is using the coolant bolt on the exhaust side. Both are in the center of the engine and the fuel pump cover seems to be higher than the coolant bolt. Lot of heat on the coolant bolt side since it's under my turbo manifold. What do you think?

Re: Knock sensor
For what its worth, the turbo conversion folks at Flying Miata recommends mounting the sensor on one of the engine mount bolts on the early Miata's with cast iron blocks and aluminum heads.

Re: Knock sensor
Hi John,
Wherever the 8V Integrale knock sensor is would be a good spot.
I tried a quick web search and did not see it. Maybe you can find an online manual?
Best,
Jordan

Re: Knock sensor
I suspect too much noise in the head and the coolant bolt is too big. I check the mounting position on my 83 block and I decide to put it on the fuel pump cover. But the engine in my car is from a 79 don't have the hole for the mechanical fuel pump. So I will have to drill in the casting a bit of center from the bolt that usually hold the cover.
