Has anyone tried, or presently use, a nitrous system?

Re: NOS on Fuel Injected 2L ?
We have a 60 shot on the shop car. It's Jerry's 1980 with our ITB's on a stock 2L and our PEFI. Way more juice than the car needs. We only did it just because we could.

Re: NOS on Fuel Injected 2L ?
Thanks Andy,
I'm not real familiar with the NOS mechanics. Is there a smaller system than the '60 Shot', that would be more suited to a stock 2L?
Is using NOS hard on the engine? Any 'cons' to using it?
Thanks,
Dave.

Re: NOS on Fuel Injected 2L ?
There are a lot of different kits out there. I've heard they make kits as small as a 10 shot.
NOS is really a race item. It runs out so quickly you can't use it on the street for more than a few minutes before you're out.
As for "cons", there are a lot. The list of downsides and destruction is long and covers most everything. The extra power means extra cylinder pressure and that is hard on the engine. Obviously the less extra power the less chance of damage but it also generates more heat so simple things like ring gap need to be altered. That does mean tearing apart the motor. NOS is especially hard on aluminum as they found in the early days so it is especially important to get the air fuel ratio correct when using it.
There are many books on the subject of NOS and even some documentaries. I don't know your exact plans for this but I suggest you read everything you can find on it. Then go to your local drag strip and talk to the guys running it.

Re: NOS on Fuel Injected 2L ?
Thanks a bunch Andy!
I have no plans on drag racing, Only thought it might be fun using it occasionally as a surprise factor on one of 'those' green light starts,
However your info on 'cons' has dismissed the idea.
Thanks again for your time and information?
Dave.
