I'm having water pump block off plates made, received the prototype today. This will eliminate having to cut the impeller from the pump and will make the installation cleaner. The temp sensor with the kit eliminates the radiator switch. I wired the controller to battery power and ignition power per the instructions. This allows the fan to run for up to 3 minutes after shutdown to prevent temperature spikes. The pump is light enough to just have the hoses support it. We include a belt with the kit. We've tried to make it complete enough that you don't need anything else. The exception is the existing water tee since there are a couple of different outlets depending on year. On the FI cars that have the restrictor towards the thermostat, I've tapped those holes and used a 3/8 pipe plug to seal it off

water pump block off kits are available now. This allows the removal of the stock water pump when you install the electric pump kit

here are some better pics showing how the block off kit and electric pump work on the twin cam. The pump can be mounted almost anywhere you wish. This shows a mounting without the right side alternator. The pump can be mounted in a direct line with the block off plate neck. The kit comes with several elbows and straight adapters to allow you to put it where ever you wish. These pics show the heater hose inlet also. The kits are complete with radiator hoses, etc.
The block off plate kit is an optional add-on, you can keep the stock water pump in place and it won't be turning so the pulley can be eliminated.

Where does the heater hose pipe connect with the water pump deleted?

if you look at the last picture posted, you'll see the heater connector on the inlet side of the pump. The kit includes a hose to connect from the water pipe to the heater connection

Here's a video I did today showing engine temperature in the Spider equipped with an electric water pump. This drive is up Mt Baldy Rd in So Cal. Afternoon temperature was about 92F today and the climb took us from 1200 ft elevation to about 4500 ft above sea level.
Remember, this is a 1973 Spider with a stock sized radiator, much smaller than the radiator that 2L cars were equipped with. The engine in this car is a 2L with 10:1 compression, ported head, street performance cams, lightweight flywheel and crank pulley, FI conversion and Computronix ignition; a pretty healthy build.

Very impressive Mark. The needle hardly moves - and as you note the car has a smaller radiator. Overall, that engine sounds really nice - it must have 3.9 rear end to keep the revs that low. Well done. (If only they let you put the battery in the back!)

yes it would have been nice to relocate the battery, the right side is pretty busy but the air intake eventually worked out well

Mark, I am planning to purchase the electric water pump kit, water pump block off kit, and alternator belt for use with the electric water pump. Is there anything else required for installation that I would need to order? I have a '79 carbureted Spider and my coolant outlet "T" has no tapped holes. Where does the coolant sensor get installed for this setup.

There is an adapter in the kit that houses the new temp sender, and that adapter goes in the upper hose. On your water tee, you can tap the return side to 3/8" pipe thread and install a plug. You shouldn't need anything else, it's all contained in the kit
