Evening all.

Picked up a RHD 1980 2.0L injection Spider last week to use as a base for my classic motorsport toy.











I've spent 30 years competing in UK rallying, the past 10+ years in M3 BMWs; I decided that it was now time for me to seek some 'less focused' events and a RWD classic convertible appealed.

I'd always liked the look of the 124s and they're from an appropriate era for eligibility, but I don't know much about them.
There seems to be some very useful info' on this forum.

Welcome ... I usually don't like the bumperless spiders, but this one is so nice. - This Fiat is so "british" RHD and old english white

I've been keeping Mrs Simon happy in the sun on your side of the big Atlantic pond since a couple of days after collecting the Fiat; hence no updates worthy of posting.
I also have a few weeks of incapacity via scalpel + recoup' looming, but the real work will begin in earnest at some point during July.

There's a collection of very useful information on this forum.
As the owner/operator of a few motoring/motorsport forums myself; I've refereed several heated debates and conflicting views about 'search button laziness'.

Is it considered poor form on this forum to ask a direct question of the members, that could possibly be successfully answered via a search?

I've a ton of questions and I can ask them via very specific thread titles.

Generally speaking, you'll find the posters here to be quite forgiving of common forum blunders. Even guys WHO SHOUT IN ALL CAPS, post eight (different) problems in their intro and don't identify the model year/engine of the problem they're asking about usually only suffer minor burns, if at all.

By all means, take a stab at the Search button before posting, but solutions are often hidden in earlier posts unhelpfully titled "Help in Michigan", or something equally obtuse. Just like your forums, perennial questions such as, "Which oil/filter is best for my car?" appear every Spring, but are well-tolerated. Don't worry about being too polite; the Canadians have you covered.
