Heater Core new gasket and ???

Post by EwokHunter »

I have had trouble with leaks in replacing my new heater core and valve. Looks like I originally overtightened things and squished the rubber gaskets beyond recognition.
I have ordered new gaskets and new stainless long pipe as well from Allison's. So before I give this another (and hopefully final) go, does anyone recomend using any Permatex type product along with the gaskets? If so, what have you had success with?
Thanks, It's been a long cold winter.

Had a pesky leak at the heater tube connection at the water pump when I replaced it last fall and ended up using Red RTV on the gasket and it stopped the leak immediately. Doesn't take much, just enough to coat the gasket before you install it.
