That the alternator is good
The discharge lite stays on. I was reading that it possible the voltage regulator could be stuck
I took it off and I'm going to have photos of it
Anything you see that wrong ? I am just looking into this for now. Next would be the alternator
Sorry for the big photos

check to see if the upper contact is stuck. The open contact looks a little corroded. clean both contacts and stick it back in the car. test the voltage with meter. you can physically push the contact open and closed with a screwdriver and watch the voltage change. If nothing happens, it may be the alternator. the unit looks ok other than the coils on the bottom side look corroded. might want to check each of the coils and solenoid with an ohmmeter.
I could not figure out why my gas gauge was not working]. When i got this car all the wiring from the person , it was all run by push button switch to toggle switches, that turn on the car and all lights. I took all that off and redone the back harness ( home made one ) there never was one
So all the wiring is 90 percent back to it original place of use.
The fuel gauge old not work, i read about a ground on the sending unit. So i tried that, grounding a wire terminal off the sending unit screws
But i have never seen a wire off the tank before, so what going one, is it the non hot wire going to the sending unit suppose to be the ground. Or does the tank it self act like the ground when it fassten down to the body,
The PO or who ever painted the tank and inside the trunk area , so is that stopping the tank from grounding itself, that if the tank does act like a ground
I'm kinda confused on this
Gauge works but with a wire ground off the tank
Thanks

You can test the cars wiring and gauge by momentarily grounding the gauges sender wire to a clean metal ground in the trunk. The gauge should indicate beyond full if everything else is correct. With the wire disconnected the gauge should indicate empty. These conditions should be achievable with the ignition switch in the "run" position.

It does work with a ground wire
