Went for a ride today and it could be the last one of the season.
After parking for a short while there was a substantial puddle of oil toward the front for the car. Didn't take long the see it was coming from the air cleaner. Obviously it's from the crank case breather. Question is why?
Thanks in advance

oil was on full and you pushed it through a long right hand curve on high revs?

Or too much oil in the crankcase, did you overfill it?

I've have had that happen with high revs and broken rings on one piston.
A compression test would give you some guidance there.

... or, you didn't let your K & N filter sit and drain out after servicing it.
Seems you'd be seeing a lot of blue smoke coming out of the exhaust, if you had a ring problem.
Bad rings and valves could cause this, but you haven't said anything about poor engine performance. These engines should not be 'spitting' oil at any RPM, if all is internally well.
You might also want to check your plugs to see if any are wet.
Good luck, hope you find the problem.
Dave.

All new rebuild engine in July. not a K & N filter. Ran great no smoke. Going to try again this weekend if the weather holds.Frog2Spider wrote:... or, you didn't let your K & N filter sit and drain out after servicing it.

Does it have a Positive Crankcase Ventalation (PCV) valve? If it does, replace it, as may be plugged or broken.

Actually, I didn't have any smoke. It was a newly rebuilt 2L engine so the oil rings were doing their job. Turned out I snapped a few compression rings when I installed them.Frog2Spider wrote: Seems you'd be seeing a lot of blue smoke coming out of the exhaust, if you had a ring problem.
I ended up driving the car for about a year and just kept the RPMs low before I tore it back down to figure out the problem.
Lots of great suggestions here I'm sure you will figure it out.
