But I did read one time about using plastic wrap and a rubber band over the end of the exhaust tip(s) to prevent condensation from accumulating in the pipe over the winter. You would ideally do your drive to circulate the fuel preservative (which would clear out any existing moisture), and then once the exhaust was cool enough to touch you'd do cap it with the plastic wrap. It will theoretically keep out the vermin too.
Metal screen to keep the vermin out as sealing the exhaust 100% does not work out that well. We've had to put drain plugs on the mufflers on some cars because they never fully dried out even during periods of daily usage.

I've read this and other threads. This year, with the "new" house, I have a three car attached garage instead of a two car attached, with back of the yard separate garage (where the Spider spent its last three winters, adorned with mothballs and dryer sheets!). I was wondering: do folks with attached garages, and daily traffic, seem to need less rodent deterrent than separate, closed up "no traffic" sheds and structures? I'm ok with continuing the prior practices, but would be nice if the whole garage (and attached laundry room/kitchen) didn't smell like a Spider winter storage container...;).

I'll continue the solar trickle charge on the battery, and with a blown out driveway outside the door, might even start it monthly for a 10 mile run around the city.

Thanks

I have a daily use garage where the spider went into hibernation this past weekend :-(

I put out snap traps and regularly pull a half dozen mice a year out of the garage over a winter. I trap them in the basement too, so there are a fair number of mice in my area.

Thanks, AJ. Our last house was more rural, and we had a bountiful supply of voles and mice (despite a dedicated flock of hawks). Only chipmunks, so far, here in the city, but sounds like continued use of the deterrents is a good idea.

Now I just have to find where I packed them for the move.....

How will you take a Spider for monthly 10 mile runs here in Madison given the road salt issue? Even on dry days there is a crap ton of salt powder in the dust. I always wait for the big spring rain to wash all the salt into Lake Mendota.

Also, I always do a fresh oil change before the winter storage. b-

I take it there's not much snow or road salt in Seattle. ;-)

admittedly, we are lucky here on the snow and salt issue. occasionally, we will get some snow to stick, but usually not for more than a couple days. therefore, salt is not really a problem. condolences to our friends in the midwest and upper east coast. i remember it driving my dad mad when we lived in milwaukee.
