What the heck is it?

Post by spidernut »

My friend and fellow Fiat owner just picked up a motor and it seems to be a real oddball of a motor. He was told it is an 1800 but

Engine ID: 131 AB. 40/7
Alleged engine size: 1800
Has flywheel bolts that match a 1995cc motor not an 1800
Rear main seal matches a 1995cc motor not the older 1800
Has an oil filter housing that matches a 1995cc motor
Base of the oil dipstick tube screws into the block instead of pushes into the block

I can't find this engine ID anywhere. Mirafiori has the most comprehensive list and I do not see the 131 AB anywhere on the list.

Anyone know what the heck this thing came from and if it is an 1800 or 2000?

Look about halfway down on the first page of this thread, third post by author Frankd1 with second set of pictures.. You may be confusing the block part number with the engine ID number?
