my wind screen ripped
good size rip in the screen .... any type of patch or sewing the rip would make me crazy .... the screen itself is also showing its age as it is brittle and more tears are coming soon ..... is there a way to replace the screen .... is it as simple as sewing in a whole new screen ... and by that I mean finding a seamstress or such for the repair ...... any body been here before ... would love some advice ... thanks ... Where and when did you buy your screen? The "economy" screen from Autoricambi is available for $49 without the conversion brackets for the Spider.

I don't think Autoicambi has them any longer. They have been 'out of stock' for quite a while. I got mine recently from Raceland and it looks and works great. I had to make the brackets to attract it, but that was easy. I think it was 49.00 including freight. For that kind of money, it hardly seems worth fixing an old one.

no kidding .... thought they were more coin .... I already have the brackets from the old screen (bought from a member years back ) it sure looks exactly like the one spidernut linked ... wish I know the measurements of the one in that link ... think I will reach out to raceland and see if they can give me dimensions .... thanks ..Matt

Re: my wind screen ripped
The one you want is the one they show for the Miata. I secured mine with 2 bolts, each about 4-5" long, and placed inside metal tubing, cut 1/2" shorter than the bolts. I secured the screen on each side to the convertible top and used a long, adjustable bungee to keep the screen upright behind the seats. When the bungee is removed, the screen lays perfectly flat over the back seat area, which makes a nice 'out of sight, out of mine' cover for anything laying on the seat.
I can't post picture here, but if you PM me your e-mail address, I can send you a couple of pictures.

Wow, glad to see you meant an aftermarket screen to reduce wind buffeting from behind. When I first read the title I thought how the heck do you rip a windshield as windscreen of course means windshield to anyone who's ever owned a British car.

if I had that skill set that is the way I would go .... stiching is so close to the edge of frame that I would just make a mess of things .... I just know I would .... still going to check with local seamstress and see what they say though .... if it is close in money than I might spend local ... but if they say 75 bucks ... well

FWIW they've been back in stock for a few weeks now. Took a while to have the brackets made.
