My 77 had the horizontal grill. I took it out and put in my own honeycomb look.

Jim, I checked Chris Obert's pages, and he lists the honeycomb grill as 70-72, with the horizontal bar styles 73 and up. I have honeycomb on my 72, FWIW. And a very nice Weber Summit on the back porch..... :)

I too have a Weber Summit, and love the way it compliments my car.

I scored a capital gas grill for $40 at a garage sale. About 1.5 hrs of scrubbing and it is all srainless steel again!

And costs more than the available dual carb kits with manifolds.....

But, they do a great job on anything you cook on them. We use ours year 'round; nothing beats brats or t-bones in the dead cold of January.....

I know 70 and 71 had the honeycomb grill. I put this grill on my 80. Sandblasted and clearcoat.

I was thinking of getting this grill for my Spider since my Aussi Grill takes up too much room in the trunk:

It was once explained to me that a grille is vertical, for example, on a car. A grill is horizontal, for example, for cooking.

That doesn't stop every restaurant with "Grill" in its name to spell it with an "e" on the end! Kind of like "Shoppe".
