Top latches

Post by sdebaker »

1977 Spider. In replacing the top, I had to replace the header rail. The replacement is the same general shape as the old one and was represented by vendor to be correct for my year. However, now the latches don't line up with the attachments on the windscreen frame. Latches are about 1/2" to the outside from the windscreen fittings. Why?

Is it the latch screw holes in the header assembly that don't line with the latch or that the attached latch does not line up with the receiver on the windshield frame?RB

On my 77, the top latches screw into a captive plate inside the header rail and are adjustable. You may have to persuade the plate to move around a bit in there. Once free there is movement in all directions.
