Top Header-Rail Seal

Post by sdebaker »

1977 124 Spider

The new seal between the front rail and the windscreen frame is a continuous extrusion. It extends past the ends of the header rail by about 6" each side. How is this seal trimmed to finish and effectively seal?

Looked at another 1977 Spider top seal. Got mine right, now. Not real obvious. Needed some trimming and bending.

It wraps around the corner of the windshield frame and gets pop riveted or screwed thru the flap that the side window rolls up into. You have to thin out the gasket to take some bulk out of it to round the corner. A couple of trial fittings will show you where you need to cut to thin the weatherstrip out. RB
