Power window Cable. Solved
1981. 2000. Thanks to help on this site I was able to get the cable on the pulleys, and stay in the grooves in the winding drum, and have the proper tension. A learning experience I would not like to repeate. I remove the regulator from the door. The trick that worked for me was after I had the cable loop unwound as far as it would go and tediously worked the cable into the proper grooves on the drum I took a strip of Duck Tape, while holding the cable securely in its grooves, and tightly wrapped it around the drum. This keeps the cable from unwinding and then it's a matter of reinstalling the regulator, routing the cable thru the pulleys, then, using a exacto knife, slice thru the duct tape and remove it from the drum. This solves the heart of the problem: keeping the cable tightly on the drum, in its proper grooves without unraveling. Oh yeah, make sure that strip of Duck tape is pre cut and close at hand BEFORE getting the cable sorted on the drum. Ask me why this is a good idea. Rich B.
