Protecting Rear Window
Where specifically do you put the soft towels in order to protect the plastic window from scratches when the top is in the down position? RB

Re: Protecting Rear Window
I lay a soft cloth across the entire outside window surface of the erect top. When collapsing, the cloth folds in half lengthwise, keeping the two surfaces of the outside window from rubbing against each other. I suppose one could do the same for the inside, but it would be rather awkward to execute.

I was told by the top installer that a pillow case is the best, particularly if you leave the top down between drives. He said that he's seen imprints left from the towels in the windows, especially if the car has been stored with the top down. I always put the top back up after a drive to avoid creasing the back window.

Re: Protecting Rear Window
I tucked a bedsheet between the top of the seat back and the trim that runs along the seat back. I then folded it over and fit in in the manner the others have already mentioned.
I did find a better solution - remove the seat back. The vinyl seat back is what causes the patterned impressions in the plastic window especially when it is hot. I took out the seat back in my son's 77 and replaced it with a carpeted flat panel that never touches the convertible top.

Re: Protecting Rear Window
I tuck a small strip of flannel (soft) along the top of seat and on same material on the outside in the folds of the window. The outside vinyl top material comes in contact with the outside plastic window and is very harsh on the window surface.
