I guess they got tired of buffing out the orange peel paint job after they got done with the hood. If they sealed it good enough you might be able to add a bilge pump and an outboard like the FlexSeal Pickup.

Well, it's unique. Obviously someone spent a lot of time bringing their vision to life. Not unlike Dr. Frankenstein.

My favorite shot is the one of the steering wheel with the cheesy plastic cover and the upside down horn button.

Wow guys, I don't care for 90% of what this person did either and I have a sense of humor, but really? Guess haters are gonna hate.

How about each of you post pictures of your pristine paint, perfect condition stock Spiders so we can see why this guy should be ridiculed. Diesel Spider, be sure to include a shot of your sweet running Lampredi 1600 cc engine. Each of you post a couple of shots of your rust and bondo free sheet metal.

I quit Ferrari and Jaguar ownership because I got tired of the smug a$$holes. Thought this crowd was more forgiving and accepting but maybe I was wrong?

Come on, lighten up. If you can't poke fun at a car with no doors what can you poke fun at? I give the guy credit for what he did, though nothing fit my taste other than the wheels and choice of paint color...maybe that "roadster" badge too.

Definitely not my cup of tea with the nostrils on the hood and all, but I do appreciate the time and effort in the body work, mainly because I haven't a clue about mucking about with metal bashing.
Car would definitely turn heads though regardless.

I actually think it is a very well thought out and executed custom job. Can't say i like the hood scoop much, but it fits right in with the rest of the mods. Sure is much more tasteful than the 4x4 spider and the gasser spider.

Not my favorite but I do appreciate the work and effort to produce it.

How are you and your family doing? I really wanted to spend more time with you and will come back just to see you guys. I remember your statement about deferred maintenance on the housing on the island. Yep. And it works longer there.

Enjoy life.

My handle is Diesel Spider because I have a 1.8L Isuzu Turbo Diesel connected to an MSG5 transmission with well over 200,000 miles on it powering the car which is used as a daily drive/rolling restoration. I don't claim its pristine/"looking AWESOME" with $8,000 of upgrades and worth a ton of cash either.

I can go along with some good natured fun when someone does something a bit off and then claims its golden like put a 124 Spider on top of a Nissan Xtera frame, covert it to a Star War's Speeder, etc. Hate mongers and conspiracy folks have to stop injecting hate along with implied profanity into a bit of light hearted ribbing over something that's quite a bit over the top and extreme and really need to lighten up. The only comment I saw that took things a bit far was about the seller being on weed but who knows if the vision of making it like that involved some wacky weed or not.

I am well aware of your engine, that was my point. In almost any other car club in existence they draw the line at engine swaps. If you aren't running the marque's mill you are excluded, period. But you are welcomed here so it just seems a little strange for you to pile on. At a Jaguar, Ferrari, Porsche or Corvette meet if you showed up with an engine swap you'd be the one ostracized and ridiculed, do you get that? If pointing out that hypocrisy makes me a "hate monger" then that's pretty sad and we'll all have to decide for ourselves who truly has the thin skin.

BTW, not sure he doesn't easily have $8000 in the car if the body work is NOT bondo and he clearly will take less than $5k for it so not getting where he claimed it was worth a "ton of cash"? He never used the word pristine and of course he thinks it looks AWESOME or he wouldn't have gone to all the trouble to create it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You specifically called out the orange peel, so your paint must be perfect, right?

All in all if you replaced the hood with a stock one I doubt the reaction here would have been anywhere near this negative. Everything else he has done (with the possible exception of the doors) has been done by others here and praised as "amazing" or "excellent" work.

My bottom line is if this guy read this forum and the comments on his car would he feel like he'd be welcome at a Freakout? He is clearly a car guy and a Fiat guy, that ought to be enough.
