Hemmings Show Celebrates Our Spiders’ 50th Anniversary
Hemmings Show Celebrates Our Spiders’ 50th Anniversary
Hemmings is holding their annual Sports & Exotic Car show in August on the grounds of the Saratoga Springs NY Auto Museum. This year is very special since the 124 Spider is one of the featured marques, celebrating its 50th anniversary.

A number of the New Jersey guys have already registered and booked hotel rooms. One of our most prominent members is planning on showcasing his just completed nut & bolt restoration at the show. It has zero miles on it, it is stunning, and will be trailered up. Brady’s amazing Spider is also planning on attending.
Saratoga Springs is a beautiful area of up-state New York. But summertime weekend traffic heading up from the NYC area is horrendous, and heading home on Sundays is just as bad. Some of us will be heading North on Friday morning and returning on Sunday morning. We are sketching out a scenic non-interstate route. If any of our friends from Maryland or Penn are interested in joining our group just let me know and I’ll get you the details. And anyone else attending from New York State or from New England please look us up. We are generally pretty easy to find.
We are actually hoteling in the Albany area, about 30 miles south, since the hotel rates in the Saratoga Springs area are absurdly expensive.

Sounds like a great show, and I know you guys will do the vintage Spider proud! My car will be enroute to California by then, so I won't be able to make your event. We have a drive next weekend, and I'll be sure to let the others know of your intentions. Maybe I can get our Webmaster to list this, as well.
Take lots of photos!

I had posted an item about this back in March and got zero responses, which was puzzling.

We were excited to drive up from NJ, but now it appears we'll be driving to NH (not in the Spider!) that weekend to take my son to camp.
Hope to see the NJ folks this fall, though, if there's a covered bridge tour.

You did not get any responses but you got 215 views so the topic has been noticed. It's definetely an interesting event. March was just a bit early in the season for anyone to commit.KevAndAndi wrote:I had posted an item about this back in March and got zero responses, which was puzzling.

If i was not attending FFO the week prior, i would surely consider this event. Route 9 from the American border zipping through the Adirondack Mountains is an amazing route that i would one day want to try out in the Spider. Meeting Brady in person plus having a good look at his masterpiece is good reason in itself to attend this event.

Remind us again why your Spider is going to Calif. Sounds exciting.
I'll post some Saratoga Springs pics when we get back. Fingers crossed Scott W's amazing Spider will be unveiled there. Its getting a top and carpets now. Scott's detail work is just amazing.

Hemmings just posted some pictures of the event on their blog here:

There is a nice picture of Brady's customer Spider which earned him first prize in the Fiat Spider class.
AriK also posted pictures from the event here on the forum:

Which one of the Spiders is the one that has zero miles on it and trailered?
Re: Hemmings Show Celebrates Our Spiders’ 50th Anniversary
Ari,
Scott's car wasn't done in time for the show.
It is in the shop for the final interior work and top install and the schedule was set back. We were all disappointed that it didn't make the show. It would have been a great venue for its reveal.
He's been working on it for I'd guess over 8 years and he's a perfectionist. I've seen it take shape. It is amazing.
Unfortunately he and our other two New Jersey Spider guru's are either banned or will no longer post on this forum.

What the heck is going on? Can someone explain what the problem is with the Forum, why people are banned or have left in droves? I don't understand, I must be missing something.

Re: Hemmings Show Celebrates Our Spiders’ 50th Anniversary
Just want to say we drove up to Saratoga Springs and back Saturday and had a fantastic day. The Fiat Spider was well represented there. I met lots of Fiat owners for the first time. I think total attendance was less than it might have been because the weather forecast was not good. This is our second time attending the show and the Museum. Truly a great experience. Thanks to all who were involved for making my day so wonderful.

I was happy to meet you as well David. You have a beautiful car and you are truly a perfectionist. The photoshoot of you and your car are on a parallel thread and they look awesome. I was very pleased with the turnout, i compare it to a mini Freakout. If they ever plan another show in Saratoga with this many Spiders, i'll be sure to attend again.
