Recent Fiat Spider Sales

Post by mattyd7 »

Saw two cars go for big bucks this week. Really encouraging for the market on our cars!

First was this beautifully restored 1972 one on BringATrailer that brought in $20,050: http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-fiat-spider/

Second is ending shortly for a 1981 Turbo in mostly original condition. Already at $19K: http://www.ebay.com/itm/141988622767?rmvSB=true

I guess I didn't realize how much the Turbos were worth, because I didn't expect to see it get this high!

I don't think these are high prices for these particular cars, at least. But I agree it is rare to see a sale price this high. As many here have said before, there are two ways to get a nice spider (or any classic car for that matter). Pay up from the get go or pour in parts and labor over time. I would bet a lot of folks here have at least $20k in their cars (or much more if personal labor was included). Could be that the new 124 has created some interest but over time the original spiders are becoming harder to find in great condition and this trend is likely to continue, in my opinion.

$20k- Is that all?

How about nearly $50k for this Spider Volumex:
