valve shim swap?

Post by zachmac »

Nothing against our vendors, I use them all the time. BUT, I need three shims and I hate to pay shipping for just those as all the vendors seem to have a minimum shipping even if the parts could be slipped into an envelope and mailed.

Anyone got a 3.55, 3.6 and, 3.7 extra shim laying around? I could either swap by sending any of the 3.75 up through low 4's or I'll pay?

Call the vendors. They've done me right and threw a few small parts in a padded envelope and mailed them to me and a significantly reduced cost. It took longer to reach me (thanks to USPS), but it was much cheaper.

Good advice. I'll try that.

PM sent, thank you. Now that sounds like my kind of house! Shims on the coffee table. I guess I could tell my wife they are for leveling that uneven end table!

To be honest, I try to keep the Fiat parts out of the house and in the garage. That way my wife doesn't say "Gee honey, more parts for the Fiat?". I tell her it's cheaper than therapy, but I haven't shown her the huge stack of receipts...

The guys on the Mira site put together a shim exchange years ago.
Not sure if it still exists or not, but the last time I knew, Pete Angel had them.
Perhaps Russ or Csaba can chime in.

The last i heard was Alvon Elrod (ventura ace) in charge of the shims box and tools. Go to mirafiori.com and inquire.
