Mounting Procar seats

Post by zachmac »

A couple of forum members have asked how I mounted the Procar seats? Others have done it differently and you can find there posts with a search. I tried to keep it simple, make adapter brackets and use the stock Fiat sliders. The problem with the Procar spacing is it is just a little off. So little that the bolts for mounting an adapter to the seats interferes with the mounting bolts for the slides. It would be better if they were further off! Anyway, what I did was offset the front mount for the seat from the front mount for the slides and put spacers between the adapter brackets and the slides to get a flush mount. Aluminum 2" wide and 1/4 " thick. Should be more than enough shear and tensile strength in the event of an accident.

I could also have offset toward the front instead but I found the travel forward to be plenty and they go further back than I can use at 5' 11" . Plus you need to do it this way to be able to clear enough to get the bolts holding the sliders to the car rails in and tight! Hope this helps anyone contemplating a set of these.

Oh, and these are still for sale in the for sale section! :D

After having looked at my own post it occurs to me you can probably also just tack weld the Fiat slider upper portion directly to the seat mount point provided you can still get the side to side offset to get the spacing correct? That would lower the mounting another 1/2". You'd just need to be very exact when tacking them to the seats.
