Storage/ speaker moulded panel

1981. 2000. This panel is located in the footwell area. There is a portion of this panel (2"x 5") that more or less projects outward in the vicinity of the lower firewall and floorpan. It's hanging out in mid air for no apprentice reason. It does not tuck under the carpet or screw into the floorpan. It looks completely out of place. What am I missing here or is it supposed to be like this? Thanks, RB

Do you still have the jute pad/insulation under your floor mats? If it was removed, then this would seem to float in mid air as its designed to fit on top of the sound deadening/insulation but fit under your floor mat.

I think that's it Steve. I got the car with the insulation removed. From the looks of the height from the firewall the padding must be pretty thick. Is it on the entire firewall? Thanks, RB
