What years had the Pinninfarina badge on the glove box?

Post by Betis »

Like the title said what years came with the badge in the glove box, and did all cars came with it?
Thanks

My 80FI has the badge on the glove box door with "Pininfarina" spelled out in italics, if that is what you are referring to?

Speaking of which, does anyone know where I can get one?

I replaced all the dash wood in the car and my glove box door has a very lightly faded area where there was clearly once a decal. I don't want a Spider2000 decal there as my car is a '74 with a 1756cc engine. If I could find a badge with *just* Pininfarina on it that would be perfect! :D

Thanks and cheers,

I think I've seen at least two variations on these too. My 79 carbed just says Pininfarina in lowercase but I've seen photos of other spiders that also say something else on the right side "fuel injected" maybe?

The rectangular pininfarina badge was introduced with the Spider 2000, in 1979. The CS2 bodied cars. Prior to this no badge was on the dashboard wood.

Ebay search for pininfarina badge and you'll get many options.

That's the one I was thinking of - Spider 2000 in the right corner.

My 79 carbed spider just says pininfarina on the glove box door and not Spider 2000.

I ended up buying this one:

Getting the badge alone is a lot harder than you'd think. I'd been looking for quite a while. There are lots of other ones, but not glovebox badges with *just* pininfarina.

I wasn't sure about the colour match but I liked the badge. Sure enough, the colour didn't fit (though it would have matched my original dash set that I replaced). I pried off the badge and will now glue it to my glovebox this week. There's a very slight fade on the wood that suggests there was once a badge there, yet no apparent harm to the surface.

I know the badge isn't original to my car, but then neither are the seats and belts, nor the electronic ignition and 32/36 carb; I can live with a non-original badge, I just didn't want one that said "Spider 2000" on there since my car clearly doesn't have that engine.

Cheers,
phaetn
