79 Pininfarina I drove it 27 miles and now..

Hello from Minnetonka Minnesota. I bought a, rust free, 1979 Pininfarina 2000 early last summer. It needs some work but that is what I bought for. I drove it home, washed it and gave it a thorough inspection. Then I had to take my wife for a ride. (She was really po'ed about my purchase http ). Now she can't wait to go on a road trip. So, I put it the garage and started to take it apart. It really needs nothing major, but it had been sitting outside for a couple of years and needs stripping and a new paint scheme and interior. But now I don't have to worry about a road trip.
Another project to occupy my time.

Best thing you can do for a 1979 is to replace the intake manifold with a single plane, and get a new carburetor, unless you want to keep it stock. Just do it and don't look back, trust me. Even if you aren't all about performance, your car will run better once you ditch all the emissions equipment, and your access under the hood becomes a non issue for things like the mechanical fuel pump, alternator, and starter. Everything is so much easier to work on after the intake swap. Plus, like me you will probably find all kinds of rotted out hoses and wires that need to be replaced that you couldn't see or access before. Easy and cheap updates that will do wonders for your car's reliability.
