be sure to dyno test your engine in it's current state, then dyno test with your new header to confirm that your theories are correct. Then make improvements where the power curve is deficient and dyno test again

Care to chime in at all Mark? Your headers would be the ones I buy if I didn't really wanna fabricate something myself for my car. I don't have many theories man, just assumptions... Which kinda worries me a bit. Can you tell me things that are really important? I will pay for the dyno testing and post results if you can help me along here. I don't even know what "stepper manifold" means or what it does.

Help! Lol

Also, is this gentleman right about not having the tubes at a 90degree angle off the flange?

my thought is why reinvent the wheel. you have 3 sources for header design from proven sources, Allison, Croft, Abarth. Learn from the Japanese. Just copy what you see.

If you do, you've already got a restriction at the mounting face. The headers on my car continue out in line with the ports, before curving down.

"before curving down" are you saying that having it 90 degrees IS the direction of the ports? This was my question earlier if the ports are indeed on a different angle than 90. And are we talking about the exact same engine? I see your name is 131...

Same engine. It's not 90, probably closer to 45, still not ideal to have the pipes perpendicular to the mounting face. I drive a 131.

Do you have a pic of your headers on your car? Can I get a better look at this angle?

Have a look at the custom made headers. Some nice work.

Yes, as Steve pointed out. The Primaries should come off the cylinder head in a straight line parallel to the ground and about 4 inches before any turns occur.

fiatfactory wrote:And if you want to get really pedantic... you should attempt to create an 'anti reversion step' where the pipe/header flange mates to the port... the 'top' of the port should be a flush fit level with the port roof, but quite a bit of benefit can be had by creating a step at the port floor (the slow side of the port) to prevent reversion of the exhaust gas back into the cylinder...
