Stainless steel bumper conversion
Stainless steel bumper conversion
Our first batch of Harrington stainless steel bumpers will arrive in about a week. These are the early style bumpers and can be mounted in place of the later double tube bumpers when the bracket conversion kit is added.

Re: Stainless steel bumper conversion
I would say exact replica of the 68. I have them on my car and the only difference I found between these and the originals is there is no holes in the middle of the bumper for the front license plate. I didn't want to drill holes, so I made a bracket to fit under the bumper. Very happy with them.djape1977 wrote:replica od original 1970 or so bumpers?
Here is a video of my car at my cottage which shows the stainless steel bumpers.

Yes I am a lucky man.
Lucky to have a great cottage, a great supportive woman (in case she reads this ) and lucky to have been able to retire at 53.
I consider myself real lucky that I didn't buy that 74 MGB and instead got my 68 Spider.
I have met some of the greatest people as a result of buying my Fiat and most of them hang out here.
I am truly blessed, and lucky for me...

Re: Stainless steel bumper conversion
I have posted a lot of detail of my install of Harrington bumpers on a 1980.One note: the rear bumpers will not accept early model OEM licence plate light housing. I moved my rear plate to the early model location and built a work around for the licence plate lights the was effective and inexpensive.

Re: Stainless steel bumper conversion
Have they improved the brackets so that installation on later cars does not require extensive modifications?

Azruss, interesting that you had that problem. Not in my case, my original licence plate lights fit just fine without any mods. Maybe they addressed this issue at some point before I got mine.azruss wrote:One note: the rear bumpers will not accept early model OEM licence plate light housing.
The only issue I had was with my existing rear bracket that was badly twisted as a result of an accident. I was only going to replace the one bumper that was damaged but I was so impressed with the quality, I installed them all.
One concern I did have, was the shipping from Vietnam (duties/taxes/fees).
Mark has solved that problem.

Re: Stainless steel bumper conversion
I won't have final pricing until they arrive, but we'll be about $1000 for the front and rear set and roughly $100 for the bracket kit. We'll probably have an introductory sale as soon as they arrive, so if you're looking for a set you can save a few bucks if you're prepared

Re: Stainless steel bumper conversion
the car i'm working on is european 124bs1 from 1971 so it already has all the right bracketry, just needs new bumpers, ones that came with it are fecked.
i'll inform the owner, but i don;'t think that he's ready to dish out the grand at this point.
thanks anyhow

Re: Stainless steel bumper conversion
I love mine, however I agree that the brackets for installing theses on the late model cars needs a complete redesign. I had to have mine modified heavily. You can use the standard rear shock by collapsing it and attaching a cross bar that lines up with the bumper mount holes. The front mount is the one that is junk.
Stay Safe,
