What clutch should I buy?
What clutch should I buy?
My custom built engine is being pulled from my old project and being put in my new project car. It's a 1.8 liter with 8mm domed pistons, cammed a bit, ported 2L head, adjustable cam gears and was professionally dyno tuned with a 32/36 weber on it. I believe it pulled about 120 at the flywheel, with around 140 ft lbs of torque. HP flat lined early due to the carb. I'll eventually be putting IDF's on it to rid of that restriction along with being the cherry on top of a 3 year bare metal restomod. Haven't done a lot of research into a clutch but with 40k on the rebuild with a stock spec clutch that's seen plenty of abuse I'm going to swap it while the engine is out. Highest horsepower I could logically expect is 150. What should I be looking at? I like a clutch that isn't going to give me dead leg while daily driving but I'm fine with a bit stiffer. I like a clutch that bites pretty well though, when I want it to. Any recommendations from the pro's? I prefer to give my money to one of our better known supporting vendors.

Re: What clutch should I buy?
agree. I've had bad experience with high clamp clutches. If you can force the VALEO to slip under torque, id like to buy your engine.
Re: What clutch should I buy?
Same clutch I'm running at the moment then. Another Valeo it is, thanks guys!
Re: What clutch should I buy?
we sell a performance clutch that is much stronger than the Valeo without increasing pedal effort. If it's just a street car without a big hp increase, you'll do fine with the Valeo unless you abuse it
