ANSA exhaust
Planning to work on my exhaust system over the winter. Looking at the headers from IAP with a straight pipe down to the ansa 2 tip exhaust(also from IAP) + an open air filter. A little worried on the sound I'm going to get. Anyone have this set up or something similar to this and can maybe get me a video or an honest opinion. Thanks!

Re: ANSA exhaust
Hi there Lucas. If your spider has a 4 2 1 manifold, that header likely wont make a difference. If you want to buy a header that is proven to make more power, I think socalmark's header is the only one. He also has some custom exhaust you can order with sound clips on this web page.
Why do you want new exhaust? You won't get a seat of pants power change with it... if for sound just get a nicer muffler and omit the cat.

Re: ANSA exhaust
I agree, the header won't get more power if the motor is stock.
FWIW we sell the Ansa rear muffler for ~$30 less than IAP, and with our current sale it'd be ~$60 less.

Re: ANSA exhaust
To be honest I like the way the headers look with my heat wrapping as well but I am going to look into these and see what I can find. I like the idea of it being all togther and ready for my car because I'm a little nervous buying something online blindly. Thanks for the help! An yes the car is going to be straight piped I don't have to worry about passing emissions with mine

autoricambi.
Re: ANSA exhaust
my header showed a 10% peak hp increase and 15% hp increase at 6000rpm on a stock motor. Torque improvements were similar. I agree that a poorly designed header won't help any motor, stock or modified

Re: ANSA exhaust
we dyno tested both an 1800 and 2L and got similar figures; 10% peak hp gain, 15% peak torque gain, 15% hp gain at 6000rpm and 20% torque gain at 6000rpm. This shows how poor the stock exhaust system is at the top end. The stock hp and torque curves dive quickly from 6000rpm and the curves stayed flat with our exhaust installed

Re: ANSA exhaust
So your complete exhaust system would give me 15HP gain at 6000RPM? What kind of gains could I expect from your turbo manifold with a T3 turbo? I assume you will be selling a complete kit, including manifold, turbo and exhaust? So Cal Mark wrote:we dyno tested both an 1800 and 2L and got similar figures; 10% peak hp gain, 15% peak torque gain, 15% hp gain at 6000rpm and 20% torque gain at 6000rpm. Re: ANSA exhaust
More to your question - that ANSA twin tip is a piece of crap. Flows the same as a stock exhaust but hangs poorly and doesn't fit the slot. Use a stock 421 or Marks' spaghetti header and you'll be a happy driver. A stock or single tip exit will look right and hang well.

RE: Mark's header ... I have a visceral negative reaction to anything being called "a ball of snakes." I therefore highly endorse Brad's nomenclature of a "spaghetti header."
