Took off the old Fiat rubbery wheel and installed the wooden Momo (made in 1994).
I love the feel of wheel and its look is decent. A slightly smaller diameter and a grip that isn't so squishy seems to provide a more direct feel for steering, which I like.
I can be a bit bright on sunny days with those chrome spokes reflecting the the windshield, and I have a new view of instruments -- speedo and tach much clearer, factory fuel and oil pressure gauges are both obscured. On the plus side, the view of the mechanical aftermarket oil pressure guage under the dash is much better.
Overall I'm very happy with it. Now I have to make the rest of the car look better around it!!
Cheers,
phaetn

Looks great phaetn,
So does yours Jay.
Is there an Ottawa Fiat Spider steering wheel replacement competition that I don't know about?
Do I now have to change my 46 year old classic plastiwood steering wheel?
I kinda like the look and I've gotten used to it over the last 14 years.

My wheel just felt gross one really humid day (it actually became sticky and residue was coming off on my hands) and I knew I had to switch it.

Next time you go to Carlsbad Springs, let me know.
Maybe we can get Jay to join us out at Canadan's for a few gigley pops and a Spider chat
Be well my friend

Re: Inspired by Jay: New Momo wheel installed
Thanks, mate.
I'm thinking of going out sometime this coming week. I have all new upper and lower control arms, tie rods, and a centre link that are itching to get installed, plus the rear upper trailing arms.
Last on my list is to get valve clearance looked at, but that requires a stone-cold engine that has sat overnight. Dan has a huge selection of shims on hand. Maybe I'll leave it with him when I go away to a cottage the week after next.
Cheers,
phaetn
