Convertible top and boot

I'm about to start installing my new convertible top. I've got a series of instructions I'm following, but I'm a little confused on the cable. I was hoping somebody might be able to post some pictures on where the cable is attached near the bow. Also, I've got all of the parts for my top boot and wanted to verify my suspicions. Is it necessary to make a thin slice in the vinyl for the hook to pass through? Any pics of that would also be appreciated.
