Thinking about filling in the bumper mount holes on the body for a smooth bumperless look.

While it looks great..your car is newer with bumperettes.. Mine is a '72 so (look at the picture I posted) bumperettes won't work on the front of my car as it has bumps below the bumper holes too wide to be covered by bumperettes...I'll post pics when I'm done. 8)

Yes in the front the bumperette don't cover the hole so my bodyshop fill a part of that hole. In the rear, you don't have to fill anything because the bumperette cover the hole.

I have seen a lot of front end treatments and have come up with a plan (on paper for now) how we are going to proceed...

we are going to eliminate the lower grill, use pre'74 turn signals and pretty much duplicate Alan's sheetmetal spoiler/front/ dam or whatever you want to call it...I am not a big fan of the curve in and then out again look of the bolted on front spoiler...just my personal taste

I really like the look of Alan's work (don't laugh at my rudimentary photo editing)

Alan's:

with a little editing

so we will have the pre '74 turn signals and probably add two 4 inch round intakes somewhere in front (flush mount) with chrome rock guards...these will direct air via tubes (sort of pseudo fog lights), one to oil cooler and one to cold air box for dual webers

now if I had an unlimited budget and/or mad welding/auto body skills I would fabricate something like the next picture...I added the front end stuff and two tone (our color scheme of choice), the spoiler is from an old Datsun 2000

will be interested to see what you end up with

Don't really like the spoiler..although I like the stock 'chin' looking spoiler..and definately no big lights. If I do driving lights they will be very descrete. I want to show off the natural body shape without vents and bumpers. I think the stock 72 turn signals look best. Anyway your cars all look great..just establishing my own look I guess..I'm glad to have it figured out.. I think matt knows what I'm going for. 8)
