Did my Dash Wood Grow or what?

Post by Dougieb »

Hi,
Finally trying to put my dash back together.
But the dash wood will not fit in.

Here is now much overlap I have.
I got the new wood from Denise (thank you very much).
I have confirmed that they are the same size as the old ones.

My center and lower consoles are out at the moment.
Looking at pictures of other cars, it appears that my dash is sagging in the middle.
This would make sense with the angle of overlaps.

Is this a common problem?
Would putting my lower and center dash back in be enough to raise the dash up into proper position?
Any other fixes other than buying a new dash?

Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem she I installed a replacement dash a few weeks ago. I just modified that plastic piece to allow the gage wood to fit. Maybe not the best way but it works, looks good and I also had an extra in case it didn't.

installation of the upper console will help support a sagging dash. If you are still in the pre assembly stage, fit a 2x4 between the tranny tunnel and the bottom of the dash to keep it straight and supported.

On the plastic replacement dashes, they will eventually sag and you might have to sand off the left edge on the glovebox door as might eventually not close.
