Couldn't wait til the weekend and have been cleaning parts at night and painting them at 6 in the morning so they are dry to go on the car in the evening...





Now I can start cleaning up the calipers and finish running brake lines...
Right after I replace the impeller on my pool pump and find out why my air handler is not sending a signal to my compressor...
Damn house!!! Taking time and money away from my car

Thanks! I love the way the red and black look against the white. I'm destined to wash the bottom of this car more than the top...
The brake calipers are soaking and I will start on them tomorrow. Yep! They will be red too!

You may have mentioned, but what are you using to clean the parts, and what paint are you using on them? Or is it powder coated?

I truly wish I had a blast cabinet and a compressor big enough to run it but no
Real estate in my crowded garage is at a record high so I'm am cleaning parts with a wire wheel and a 2" scotch brite disk in my driveway...
My neighbors are awesome!! Not one complaint since I started!
I also wish I could have all the parts powder coated but that gets expensive and I'm not sure I could find the patience. I'm always fighting myself to wait for the paint to dry
So, I'm using VHT high temp epoxy paint over Eastwood rust encapsulator (as primer)
I'm using this



On all the fasteners in an attempt to keep moisture away. I've been told it works great so fingers crossed!

I started in on my rear calipers and managed to get them all apart without too much hassle. We all know that there is bound to be some!!



And got one cleaned up...



I'm pretty happy with the overall condition! I have new rubber bits and stainless bleeders ready to go so it should be smooth sailing.

Our friend Jay has some great posts on brake caliper rebuilds, amongst others. Please do a search and you will find a wealth of info, as usual, on the topic. I can certainly post what I have done but it has been written many times by many people equally or more qualified than I.
Please do not hesitate to ask if questions arise!!
Also, please do not think that I am avoiding helping, I just think that there is much qualified help already available.

I've been convinced to send calipers and brackets up to Beek for powder coating. He doesn't know it yet but I think he might get the front spindles too

So, that's it for brake work for a time. Just for fun I tossed a rim on the back with a 1" spacer. I like a wide stance but I'm currently in the opinion 1" is too much. I'll know better once I get some sneakers on the rims.
