Keeping it sharp - paint, wax, detailing, etc.

Chrome Plating in the Denver Area?

Post by SeldomSeen »

I was about to remove the bumpers on my 124 spider when I was informed that Denver Bumper Works just went out of business. I guess the EPA is coming down hard on this industry. Does anyone know of a chrome plater between Colorado Springs and Cheyenne?

No tips on chroming companies in WY/CO.

How are things in Lyons? Are they making progress on getting things back to 2 lanes of traffic up the canyons?

Highway 7 is open but there are some nasty potholes. 36 still has long delays from 8am to 6pm during the week. Part of it is now unpaved and not suitable for low clearance vehicles like Fiats. There will be no construction on weekends for the tourist season however.

That's a bummer. I heard through the grapevine that the road from Masonville to Cache La Poudre is in bad shape and the road down from Ward was also hit.

Stove Prairie road with a loop up Rist Canyon and around Carter Lake back to Masonville was arguably the best top-down drive in Colorado. The loop is about the same length as the old Nordschliefe at Nurburgring. It will never be the same what with the recent fire and flood. There just aren't many really cool places to drive a Euro classic sports car here anymore. Deb and I will be moving to SW Oregon within the next couple of years. Plenty of new adventures there.

This is nothing new. The Employment Prevention Agency has been putting small chrome plating shops out of business for years. It has also driven the cost of plating into the stratosphere. Good job Washington!
