Just bought a front spolier from Mark. I live in North Carolina got it in 3 days. Super service. Anyway I bought for cosmetics, but after getting it on I realize it actually reduced my engine temp. It actually scoops up the air and throws it into the engine compartment. Never thought of that before.I highly rrecommend it.

You will also notice that it will keep the nose down at high speeds. It purpose is to take the incoming air and direct it around the side of the car rather than underneath where it lifts the car. A side effect is that air dams in front of the radiator creating a high pressure area that forces more air thru the radiator. It should also make your fuel economy a little worse.

cooling and fuel consumption are noticed (for me) around 35 and up .... keeping the nose stuck to the road is a pretty high speed event .... I wanna say I noticed that part at around 65 and above ... really big "noticeable" difference as approaching speeds that will get you "big" tickets in most states

edit ... and watch out for those parking stump things .... they sneak up on you quick ... ask me how I know

Makes sense about holding the nose down, the front end of the Spider without a spoiler is a lift foil shape for sure.

the first version of my current air dam was built in the early 80s. I would notice the car getting "lighter" (determined by road feel and less effort in steering) up to about 40. At that point, the car would begin to feel "heavier" and at 55 mph had the same road feel as the car did at 30. As I increased speed, the car remained with the 30 mph road feel. Another thing i noticed was when i drove over a plastic bag or some other air borne debris, it stayed under the car 3 times longer than without the air dam.

About the speed thing. I never get it over 70. Have not felt any difference. Don't really care about fuel economy. My main concern was the air into the engine and the look. I guess all of those other attributes are great.

I like what you've done with the bumperettes there... and are those TJ turn signals?

Bumperets are from a 67 Plymouth Fury. I did the same on the rear using MGB bumperets. The turn signals are from a jeep wrangler not sure what year bought them on amazon. They don't fit perfectly because they are flat and the fender is curved, but I think looks good from a distance.

Yep - I've got a pair of the same turn signals which I'm probably going to fit on my FI. I've got VW signals on my 1800 which actually work pretty well (as they're slightly curved). I'm thinking some judicious heat gun application may work!

Perhaps a rubber gasket - it should compress a little more in the center to give a more finished look ? (not that it doesn't look pretty nice right now!)
