Maybe the tabs are PO thing? My lights are going back on today, with new rings. I'll find out whether or not I need those tabs...
I installed my headlights today. I re-used the rubber gaskets i had. Fitting those to the back of the headlights is pretty staight forward. Then the lights attach with 4 pan head screws. I bought new plastic trim rings from AR. They have tabs that snap into cutouts in the headlights' recess panel. At first, they appear too large, BUT by working around the ring and fitting one tab at a time they went! I didnt need those trim ring retainers. The chrome rings are held in place by ridges and a single screw at the bottom.

You just got to laugh at things that happen at times.

The hose will end up for a drinking hat. The only thing we don't know is what will be in the container.

Thinking this was resolved I went out for a nice drive on a beautiful day, only to have this fall off and roll under the car beside me at the red light. WTF!
Hey, at least it wasn't one of the rear wheels with your two daughters in the backseat and one of them asking "Hey Daddy, isn't that our wheel?" Ahhh, such fond memories........
