Center Console

Spider Point used to sell these as part of the deluxe leather interior package they sold, but they stopped making them. The only other place I have found them is if you can find someone parting out a Turbo, they came with stitched consoles.

I have tried to find a shop to make me a set but have not had any luck. I anyone knows of a shop please share!!

I think you are confusing the Anniversary ('81) Edition with the Turbo... The Turbo has the normal dash and console where as the Anniversary Edition had the leather wrapped console and then the bottom curved portion of the dash had a leather covered strip that ran the length of the dash.

I am no interior expert, but I had to do something with my rotten center console. Plus, I like to customize things to my liking, if I can. So I tore it down to see what it was made of. I figured that if ruined it then I would buy a replacement.

This is what is under neath all that crumbly crap.


Then I glued carpet on it. The same carpet I used to redo the passenger compartment.


I cut some scrap 1/8" vernier into sections and screwed them into the console.


As a last resort, if I get tired of all that carpet, I can just cover it over with vinyl or leather.

Very nice!! I just assumed it was plastic and metal reinforcement plates. If someone had the skills they could easily make it look OEM.

as a follow up, I am planning on an upper console to house some switches, a NAV unit and courtesy lights. The small upper panel there now is just temporary.

This one is mine... Dragged it into some local shop, quoted me big $$ to leather wrap and stitch it... Said ok, turned out great great!

I showed him the spot at the rear I wanted a cup holder, left him a plastic one from my poker table, cut out the hole... Use it every time

Kingme2: nice console. I will probably replace my console wood with something more exotic next year.

As for the cup holders, I spent a lot of time trying to figure out where to put them so they could be easily assessed but not be in the way while driving. I put one on each side of the tranny hump. The seats can be slid forward when the holders are closed.




Also, the cups jaws can expand and contract for different sized containers.

Mine is only cracked at the rear of the emergency lever, but it still drives my a bit nuts. This summer it'll wait. Tackle it in the fall
