Center Console

Post by FiatJB »

Anyone happen to know where to get the center console that is done in leather?
I've seen some listed and they seem to have a stitched leather finish vs. the vinyl
I looked through the internet but I can't seem to find any reference or vendor
Thanks

I have seen a console that been recovered, in fact I tried to have mine done and there was no way any one could do it
But I seen one that looked awesome , instead of trying to get it covered the original look, they had it done in sections, then sewn together with nice seams, damn it looked awesome
Oh and it was the lower consol

There are members that have been on this board that have done the stitching themselves resulting in absolutely beautiful interiors. Only one that still comes to mind though is Nick (Radiopilot), but I haven't seen him post in years.

My mistake, looking for leather stitched LOWER center console
Mine is only minimally cracked around the brake lever, but i want it perfect.
If i can't figure out where to get the leather stitched one i may go with a cover
Thoughts anyone? Do the covers match up in terms of fit? If i have to get a black one and paint it tan, i will do that and paint the upper console as well to match.
Vicks seems to have the widest options in terms of covers with the correct cutouts for ashtray and fan switch, anyone know of alternates?

The Center Console is on my list of "to dos".

This book is where I learnt to do auto upholstery from - starting with my seats that aren't "so bad" for a first attempt. I'm just embarking on a recover in time for the Spring Thing... hopefully!

That's different - that's a console cap. Aren't we talking about doing a recover in fabric? Like csaba has?

I figure i will use a cap vs replacing the whole console if I have to. I'd prefer a good reproduction console if I can find one. I just thought someone might know of somebody that actually does stitch up covers and sell them

Spider Point used to sell these as part of the deluxe leather interior package they sold, but they stopped making them. The only other place I have found them is if you can find someone parting out a Turbo, they came with stitched consoles.

I have tried to find a shop to make me a set but have not had any luck. I anyone knows of a shop please share!!

It was $180 plus shipping from ICS autoservice in LA. I think that the place is close but if you can find this guy, he's the one.
