It was a long search, but worth the wait.
"Spiddy" is a beautiful black 1985 Pininfarina and is in totally original condition. The German (Klaus) bought it new and treated it like a baby. All the original documents and full service history came with the car as well as several spare parts and a complete spare set of Volumex rims which he bought but never put on! The rear screen has a split in it and the drivers seat has a small split on the side bolster. I need to investigate a strong smell of petrol permeating through the car, but other than these small points, the car is absolutely spot on - the only frustration being the owners manual is in Italian! If anyone out there has an English version going spare, I'd be extremely gratefull.
124 Spiders are rare in Spain and very expensive. I looked at a rust bucket and the owner wasn't prepared to budge on the 9k euros asking price!
As "Spiddy" was being unloaded from the transporter, an elderly Spaniard drove slowly by, stopped, reversed, got out, wandered over, asked if it was ours, enquired as to what it was, made lots of excitable Spanish remarks, went back to his car, returned with his camera, took lots of shots, asked us to pose beside it, took more pics, exchanged names and addresses and from what we could understand was going to put it in a magazine or local paper!
Any way, thanks for sparing the time to read all this. If ever you're in Spain...........
