Racing seats?

Post by Lyndor43 »

Hi everyone, I was just curious to see if anyone has had any luck with any aftermarket racing seats for somewhat cheap, it's somewhat difficult to find some that are able to fit into the car, if anyone could give me some insight on options that would be great!
Cheers!

I have seen quite a few of the high-back race style seats installed in Spiders. The biggest issue seems to be that they are a lot taller than the stock seats. The lower back style (http://procarbyscat.com/seats/Classic) seem to fit very well ,but are pretty pricey. Some people have swapped in Civic,Miata, and Porsche 914 seats with success.

Height is always an issue I have modified my v6spider to accept seats out of an '89 Firebird. But i had remove the seat rails entirely and fashion my own mounts to use the seat rails that came with them. I also had to lower the height of the rails in order to get the seat height down where it should be.. no matter what you do you'll be fabricating mounts for seats that are not original... anywho my two bits... 8)

Check out the Sparco Sprint. It's a one piece race seat that is pretty cheap. Will fit in a spider. Just be aware that getting into and out of a fixed bolster race seat can be a challenge with the top up.
