Trunk popper, Now with RFID remote

Post by SoFlaFiat »

Today I got sidetracked from my ongoing body work and did a dry run on my trunk popper.
I am trying to keep a minimalist thing going and decided to hide the trunk release. I have also ordered an RFID transmitter which I will try. This should allow me to wave the fob near the trunk and have it release instead of a switching the car.
Here's a very short vid!

So, yea, I'm a geek...
I added a fob remote to my trunk popper. I should be able to use the same fob to enable/disable my starter circuit which will leave me with no keys at all.

Why not just go all the way use a multi channel remote alarm with power door solenoids radar sensor for the top etc?

If it's a tech question maybe we should post them here so the info can be assessable for the forum as well, often
times people will add some input or ideals which can be beneficial for FS.com members if they choose to do the
same mods.

Absolutely! As you probably noticed, my goal would be no keys, one remote which enables my ignition circuit and pops my trunk. Ultimately I would like an ignition start/stop button which uses an RFID proximity fob so that it is disabled when I walk away from the car. The same fob (remote) would talk to my trunk release solenoid (with a button is fine instead of the way I have just done it). I am installing a new wiring harness. I have seen many alarms and remote start systems but have not found one that will accomplish what I want without spending $500. These systems all come with remote door locks and sirens etc. I have no need for that as I never lock the car anyway. I think a brake or clutch pedal safety switch would be a great idea too. The RFID system I am using on my trunk solenoid was very cheap and obviously works fine for that, but I have decided that it would not work with the ignition since it requires the fob to be within 2" of the antenna. I would like to be able to keep the fob in my pocket.
Also, I have seen many start buttons available but can not find one that can also be wired as a kill switch, at least sold separately. Do you have a lead on such a switch and since, as I said, I'm am not too tech savy, one that comes with a decent wiring diagram?
Thanks Daniel!!
