adapting Corbeau seats
Bought Corbeau seats with mount kit. After installation, I found myself sitting too high in the car. So I modified the height. The issue was the mount kit. The goal was to go back to the OEM slider. The problem was the OEM slider mount holes fell right on the edge of the seat mounting tabs. Couldnt figure out a way to do an adaptor bracket, so ended up taking the seat apart , cutting off the mount tabs and making a new set large enough to adapt to OEM rails. Took me about 3 hours to do the fabricating. The rest of the day was taking the seat apart and back together again. Figured it dropped the seat 1 1/4". Made a huge different in my sitting position as i could now see under the rear view mirror and the top of my head is not longer flush with the top of the windshield. It still feels a little high compared to factory, but i havent sat in an unsaggy factory seat for a few decades. Didnt do the PS. The wifey struggles enough getting in and out of the car with a bad hip without the seat being any lower. The difference in height isnt noticable unless you are looking for it.

Nice work Russ. You're braver than I would be to cut up something new and expensive in hopes of getting a better fit.

John,
Hope the trip out yonder was fun. Maybe we can get together over the long weekend. I still need to get your spare back to you before the rubber rots off the rim.

I'm 5-7. the beauty of the tapered seat mounts is the farther you push the seat back, the lower you sit. I have the seat tucked up as i like an easy reach when the clutch is on the floor.

At 6 4 I can drive the 124 fairly comfortably. How much taller do you reckon the corbeaus are?

I'm just shy of 6'6", original seats with abarth steering wheel is just perfect. I looked at the corbeaus - but opted to repair and recover the original

I was over at John demars this weekend and never thought to do a comparison. Maybe we can connect up again for a test. I'm curious myself. My guess is it is very close. ..less than an inch

If you are in a spot to compare and can snap a few pics that would be awesome..
To further complicate it... i'm going to attempt to install a roll bar from a Porsche Boxster....yes.. it will need massaged

Re: adapting Corbeau seats
I took my corbeau seat and slid it as far back as i could. put a level across the top of the windshield frame and measured to the low spot in the seat where you place your butt. It measured 33". The seat is wider than the OEM seat, so it rubs on the console a little.

Re: adapting Corbeau seats
Using the level on the windshield frame technique I actually only achieved 32.75 inches to the seat bottom.
I have to add that I raised the front of my seats about an inch with spacers so I'm not sure how much, if any, it would affect the measurement at the back of the seat.
At any rate it would appear that the Corbeau seats that Russ has sit as low as my OEM.

Re: adapting Corbeau seats
thanks for checking that out, John. satified my curiousity. I easily could have a 1/4" error in my measurement. Was great to connect up again. Your spider is lookin mighty fine.
