Here's my version of connecting the front sub framework of the unibody to the rear arch frame work.

Nice!
I've long thought of doing that, but I just could not bring myself to cutting into those rear floors

Re: subframe connectors
Hi Vandor,
Well the choice wasn't hard to make because of the rust that I had and I wanted to use my firebird seats so the floor needed to be flat. And I think this will really help with stiffening it up for my v6 power plant as well.
Cheers!

Re: subframe connectors
Sorry Daniel! I have the mind of a hot rodder! And this mod is necessary I think for added stiffness to support my v6.
Cheers!

Rob,
What you really need is an X-brace. The spider has good strength in the vertical directions but is lacking in the torsional or twisting. That being said, every little bit helps.

Re: subframe connectors
Has anyone used sub frame connectors that angle in towrds the center and installed shallow removable cross members creating some additional structural rigidity?

Re: subframe connectors
Hi Everyone,
Hi Ted: always good to hear from you. I was thinking about x bracing but I was concerned about it getting in the way of my 2 1/2" dual exhaust. I have an idea about how I could weld it in to the framework that is existing. however i am not to sure about how one would tie it in to the opposite side. It definitely is a great idea I just don't know how to execute it effectively while not interfering with the drive-shaft and the exhaust (Like Daniel mentioned)..i am converting to 3 -link just so i can have dual exhaust all the way out the back... I was toying with the idea of making a new transmission brace that ties in to the frame work and also the existing tie points that might be ticket for the x brace tying in and making that work possibly
TX82FIAT: You kind of lost me on that one... although the uni-body gets its strength from being spot welded together and now even more with extra tack welds also that i added..i think the bolt in bits you refer to should be welded in to be more effective.
just a thought...
