Marks Auto Upholstery in Foxboro does an excellent job, although they are a little far away from you, but I highly recommend them.

Pretty close to both 95 and 495.

Mark runs the place, Dimitri is the man.

There is nothing worst then waiting, then get a crap job
As I see this,it not about getting a discount or money back,it about getting it done right
We go get the seats done thinking where paying full price( which it correct )
Not to get the seats and they tell you," oh we can take off a few hundred just to satisfy you, that don't work with me

Well my wife stopped by today to "check his progress". He had not even started!!!!!
After she called me , I have started my negative publicity campaign, starting with the BBB, yelp and yahoo as well as consumer complaints.com. I may go Friday and demand a refund minus documented material costs and get my seats back to take to a more qualified shop.

Tell your tale of woe to Mark at http://www.marksautoupholstering.com and see if he can expedite it for you. Mention my name, I told him I would send him some customers (uncompensated of course) :D

Thanks Pete. I may end up there. I ended up on Saturday getting in the guys face and threatened legal action. I suspect that he has had a number of complaints of late and doesn't want the hassle. I suggested that I was willing to spend more than his upholstery job to get satisfaction. That seemed to get his attention. He has so far cleaned up the bottoms and mechanically fastened the cushion to the seat pan (imagine that!). However I suspect that he has pulled/removed the supplementary seat bottom padding that I asked for to make this work. This is still being addressed, along with one seat back being off center and out of alignment with the headrest. Unlike the other seat back which looks normal. One seat bottom is now pulled too tight and there is a big pucker at that location and the other seat bottom looks like a drunk lopsided grin from the front. 6 inches tall on one side and 3 inches tall on the other. So much for 25 years experience and treating every piece like it was his own. -hate to live at his house if that is the case. I should have all resolved by Friday (fingers crossed). In the mean time I have filed a complaint with BBB and an online complaint agency as a back up plan.

OOPS, I forgot to post the pictures of this gentleman's (not) handsome work
Image
Notice the nice horizontal seam and the excellent centering of the material with respect to the headrest (NOT)

Image
And the puckering that want there when the fabric was just glued top the bottom of the seat pan

Image
And the consistency and evenness agross the front of the lower cushions. This guy must be working on a boat at full tilt without a gimbal. His excuse, foam is 30 years old. springs are rusted. My response, thats why I brought them to an upholstery shop. You are supposed to have supplies and expertise to address this type of thing. His response - I cannot get springs. 15 min later in Ace Hardware. you know the rest.

Image
And of copurse he didnt use the hog rings like the seat eaxmple here. Thing is, I even left this seat in his shop so he could have an example,,,,,,, cause he took so long he FORGOT how they were supposed to go back on the seat and be attached.

BBB complaint in full effect. They were supposed again to be ready last Friday - No phone call, nothing. He called my house this morning and spoke to my wife, saying that he called Friday and Saturday. Nice thing about cell phones, they log every call - more lies. Anyway I am supposed to go and pick them up this Wednesday. We will see what he has fixed or not

Pete
I saw Pete's car and Mark's upholstery work at the Tutto Italiano show yesterday. The seats were awesome, and if I remember correctly, Pete picked out the material and asked Mark to copy the design of the original seats. I plan to take my seats to Mark over the winter and have him install a top at some point.

I live in NH but it is worth the trip when you can find someone that does great work.

Hey it was great to see you too at Tutto! A good showing for sure, I counted 10 Spiders. Yes, you are correct that I chose the material from his stock books and asked him to duplicate the original factory stitching, which they did really well. Dimitri is the man over there for this stuff. They added new foam as well, and my wife says the seats are more comfortable than our Malibu's. <{:^)

Well, I make some sort of decision on Wednesday (tomorrow) when I go to get them for the third time. Based upon past experience, I'm not optimistic. What irks me as much as the poor workmanship is the amount of time we are missing being able to drive the car. The summer is more than half over. It's things like this that make me want to do things myself. I started out thinking this was the best way to go. Better than a kit, correct some of the worn out foam, and copy the original pattern. I was wrong on all counts. I have the tools at home save a sewing machine capable of the thicker fabric stitching. Even a kit would have been less aggravation than this saga. I haven't seen Pete's seats in person, but from what I can see in the pictures they look real nice.

The interior was a hit, but didn't give me enough muscle for an award! LOL. I need to do a bunch of minor body work outside to get the judging points up higher..... <{:^)
