Electric Window Installation Kit ?

Post by hyghlndr »

Looking for suggestions on a good kit or best way to install power windows in a 1978. I have seen some generic universal kits on ebay but not sure if they would work. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Have thought about this and but as you say they most probably require a lot of re-engineering to get in and working properly.

There was once a kit available specifically for the fiat spider that used the scissor principle but they were pricey (I imagined justified if they were a straight bolt it) but have not seen them in years.

Your main option would be to use an existing electric window set up from an 80 onwards, but beware the electric motor are heavy and no doubt the windows wont be that fast....

keep the crankers. I don't think you can buy a car with crank windows in the US today. Consider it education for our youth when you take the car out. I still remember a few years back when my youngest son pointed at the inside of the door frame and said "what are those". It took me a minute to realize he had never seen crank windows. We spent the next couple minutes racing each other rolling up and down the windows. keep the crankers.
Buon giro a tutti! - enjoy the ride!
