upper console wood

Post by azruss »

Got up early to beat the heat and shoot the 2nd coat on the piano wood. Not puting in a radio, so will leave that piece blank. I decided to coat the lower piece to protect the wood while i cut holes. puting in the lighter, courtesy light, seat heater controls and a manual radiator fan switch. Was a nice morning for shooting as we had a cloud cover, hadnt broke 100 yet and still air. I bought a gallon of PPG urethane clear coat planning on painting the car myself. After going to plan B, i now have the super expense, ultra high performance clear for wood, aluminum and other such distractions.

Here is the wood mounted and drilled. I still need to cut it to length to match the lower console wood. I will use that opportunity to paint the upper edge black to help with blend.

Every boy always remembers the one vixen that seduced him to the dark side. For me, that first bite came from a 70 124 spider i drove as a daily driver for 23 years. Somehow in the back of my mind, i wanted to pay homage to her with the new resto. I always loved the 124 sport on the back. No spider since has matched that emblem. So, on a whim, that badge went on the radio wood on the upper console.

Wow, beautiful job. That dash really takes it up a few rungs on the "class" ladder.
What seats are those?

the seats are Corbeau with cheap seatcovers. the seats are cloth and gather lint and dog hair like no tomorrow. just grabbed the seat covers for protection. They will take some time to develop a fit.
