group 4 finished project video walk round

Post by murrayarnold »

Hi guys. I have made a small video of my finished group 4 spider in gulf oil colours. I say finished. Well not quite but its on the road. I am going to compete in hill climb events with it as I do like to race. I still have to install a full FIAA cage. This may mean removing the back seats however. Also the car should be getting all its decals on next week. I uploaded the video to YouTube then attached to the blog on about the 3rd post so you can all watch it. Plenty custom mods including the dash.
Enjoy and drop any comments and questions.

thanks guys.
But off course the car has been put together with the valued assistance of several companies. I think its only fair to say that Alisons Automotive supplies played a big part in the mechanical side and also some interior mods. In addition Alisons was always very prompt in answering any emails and also giving good technical advise. Here are just a few key parts that were supplied from Alisons. Hey Mark and others. I think i now need your name on the car :D

Alisons Automotive Parts
Custom dash board ( now covered with leather and suede)
fast road cams
twin 40 carbs
fuel regulator valve and pressure guage
inlet manifold
full custom exhaust
distributerless ignition ( spoken well of by Guy Croft Racing engines and being installed on the new Guy Croft Engine)
full set of EBC grooved discs, Green stuff pads and braided brake lines

Guy Moerenhout Abarth Works Museum ( Belgium)

Group 4 exterior body panels
group 4 bonnet (hood)
all spot lights
8'' Abarth wheels
Abarth cam covers (in the post)

Deamon Tweeks ( England)

Yokohama tyres
push button starter
twin electronic fuel pumps
interior switches

Middle Barton Garrage (England)
sound insulation and full carpet set
front and rear light clusters

Interior trim ( installed in Croatia, material from Italy)
Local boat fitter

Exterior panel fitting and painting ( Split, Croatia)
Local body works

Guy Croft Racing Engines ( England)
Full race 200hp 8v 2ltr engine
twin 44 Weber carbs, manifold and linkage

Thanks very much to all

i hope it encourages others to take the plunge and pimp up their 124. i would do the same again but simply change the colour scheme. I would also make the effort to install the 2 front additional driving lights into the front grill and to redo the fuel tank inlet. I am now contemplating swapping out the steering box design for traditional rack and pinion. I feel its more direct and responsive. I would also install a quick rack for that extra responsiveness. If anyone has info on this conversion i am all ears. Also i want to modify the front camber. I am looking for 2 to 3 degree negative camber. I am sure there is something out there. Again if anyone has any info i am listening.
Thanks guys.

any alignment shop can dial in your camber. It just requires adding shims to the back of the lower a-arm.
