Yes happy, great sound. Had down drafts on the car but the mechanic insisted I install side drafts (each way bet I think on this.... alot of people say down draft are just as good if not better!). Prefer carbie sound over injection engines. When the engine is under full acceleration the sound is amazing.

Do it! Will have some nice top end speed and fly past me after I initially has the break on you.

1978 Fiat Spider 124 - an 1800 engine with a slight problem (besides how it looks!)
Image

Loose a timing belt lately? Major work, all the valves are open and bent!
Image

So that is what the pistons look like! All are okay! Guess they are stronger than the valves!
Image

Would you believe this is the same engine. Notice the new timing belt! Replaced the valves and springs, machined the head; replaced OE plastic cam and auxilary pulleys with steel; new crankshaft timing gear; new water pump, heater pipe, thermostat, and tensioner - upgrading to a gear reduction starter, electronic ignition and a new carburator - added a gallon or two of elbow grease - still a work in progress! Have time, spring is still a ways off and it is down to 20 below!
Image

Ready for test run! A few problems to get past but with the advice of Mark it runs BEAUTIFULLY! Thanks Mark!
Image

Getting there, just a bit more work to do!

Hey guys,
I'm rebuilding my engine and want to paint it, I'm planning on red wrinkle paint on the covers, and want to leave the head silver. I can't decide what to do with the cam towers. I either want to do Black wrinkle (basically wind up copying maytag, I can't help it, it looks so good), or leave them bare aluminum? I can't decide if making the towers red wrinkle would be overkill? I can't picture it.

Votes? Black wrinkle, bare aluminum(maybe clear coated), or Red wrinkle?

Thanks! I still haven't fully decided. I have to disassemble and clean, but I go back and forth between all red and red w/ black every day.

Jeff (sptcoupe) asked me to post pics of his engine, as he is traveling now. The airbox has just been redone so it does not hit the hood and there is a new type of enclosed filter in the inlet tube. The valve covers are now red. Testarossa! :-)
