thats definitely the look i wanted but with the 68 grille installed there isnt enouch clearance for the hood to open.

I like the Mini Cooper lights, but heard about the hood issue as well.
I just picked up these 3.5 inch lights for the grill, and 2.5 inch ones for the spoiler. These are Photoshopped in for position, but I will post a shot when I actually have them installed.

Thank you for measuring but its the fore/aft clearance, not the height although obviously youd have to use smaller ones to fit in there...
I have a set that fit height wise but cant move them far enough back to be able to open the hood...
